Welcome to the Anchormen Dance Teams – where young people come together to dance, perform, build confidence, and make lasting friendships!

Whether your child is full of energy, loves music, or just wants to try something new, the Anchormen offer a fun, welcoming environment for all abilities. Based in Halifax, West Yorkshire, our teams rehearse regularly and take part in exciting competitions throughout the year across the UK.

From colourful costumes to choreographed routines, your child will experience the joy of performing, learn new skills, and be part of a supportive team. We’re more than just a dance group – we’re a family.

The Anchormen Dance Teams train every Wednesday evening from 6:00 to 7:30pm at Brooksbank School in Elland, in the Right Hand Gym. Your child’s first taster session is completely free – after that, it’s just £4 per week (Discounts available for siblings too!)

During rehearsals, members learn a variety of skills including dance, flag work, basic gymnastics, and ballet technique. It’s a fantastic way to build coordination, confidence, and creativity – all while having fun!

Our dedicated team of volunteer instructors bring years of experience to every session. All have competed with the Anchormen in the past and are passionate about passing on their knowledge to the next generation. Every teaching volunteer is Enhanced DBS checked, and we have full safeguarding policies in place to ensure a safe and supportive environment.

Competitions and Performances

From September to Christmas they start to train twice a week, Wednesdays and Sundays, and focus on learning a brand new routine to music. After the festive break, we enter several competitions as part of the WGUK circuit (Winter Guard United Kingdom – www.wguk.org.uk).

Each year, we also host our own exciting competition in March at Leeds Beckett University’s Headingley Campus. The season finishes with WGUK Finals in Worcester at the start of April – a celebration of all the hard work and progress our members have made.

The Anchormen Dance Teams have been a proud part of the community for over 45 years, earning a reputation for excellence and a collection of medals along the way. We believe in helping young people grow, perform, and thrive – and we’d love to welcome your family to our team.
